Christopher J Powell BSc, MSc, PhD, C Biol, FRCPath, FBTS

Dr Powell was appointed a member of the COC in April 2009. He has extensive experience of hazard characterisation and risk assessment and has particular interest in mechanisms of hepatoxicity and the early epigenetic and molecular changes during chemical carcinogenesis.

He was previously Reader in Pharmaceutical and Chemical Safety at St Bartholomew's Hospital Medical College, University of London. He has served on a number of Government Advisory Committees concerned with the safety of chemicals and medicines and has been a consultant for the World Health Organisation.
